Predicting the worst and best possible outcomes for the Penn State Football Team going into the 2022 season
If you threw me into a time machine and sent me back to 2019 to ask that version of me the ceiling and floor for Penn State Football, then I’m guessing you would get a wildly different answer than what I’m about to present.
Outside of breaking the space-time continuum in the process, the previous version of myself would no doubt say the floor isn’t anything lower than 8-4 which would probably include a decent bowl game opponent. And most likely a “W” in the bowl game to boot.
However, the results in the past two seasons of Nittany Lions Football have taught the Penn State faithful many things; namely don’t take success for granted.
Because in Happy Valley most fans aren’t exactly thrilled with a combined 11-11 record in 2020 and 2021.
To make matters worse, the disappointing finishes in the last two seasons have also been accompanied by some not so great trends which have plagued James Franklin in his tenure at Penn State Football.
For the Nittany Lions and “James from State College” to find the road to success, the poor clock management, terrible W/L record coming out of a bye, etc., will need to be addressed and fixed.
But, fret not because help is on the way with the incoming recruiting class. Which is definitely a good thing. However, they may not be able to help out next year as much as some people would like as it’s going to be a bit of a transition year.
So with all of that said, let’s steer this article directly into my wheelhouse; making accurate predictions. More specifically, predictions for both ends of the spectrum for next year’s football season.
I’ll first tackle the Nittany Lions’ projected floor and then hopefully end on a much brighter note with their possible ceiling.
