Here are some of the top stories involving Auburn athletes on Wednesday morning.
Auburn baseball started a busy week with a 13-7 win over Alabama State Tuesday night. Auburn softball will play six games over the next five games. Finally, the recruiting dead period has ended and is now in a quiet period.
On March 1, the dead period ended in college football recruiting. Tuesday recruits were once again able to visit campuses and the coaching staffs. The coaches are still not able to go out and visit the prospects off-campus, however.
What does this mean? Recruits, who have not been able to visit campuses for the past month, are now able to and visitors will start to pour in across the country.
Coaches will have to juggle spring practices and hosting visitors, but this is an important time for Auburn to impress their targets in the 2023 class and beyond.
Auburn baseball’s team busy week got off to a positive start Tuesday night, with the Tigers beating Alabama State 13-7.
After giving up a run in the top of the first inning, Auburn exploded for seven runs in the second inning to take an early 7-1 lead. The Hornets were not done though, they scored four runs in the sixth inning to make it a 9-6 Auburn lead.
Auburn once again responded in a major way, the Tigers scored three runs in the bottom of the inning to stretch the lead to 12-6.
Cole Foster homered and drove in four runs to lead the offence.
Tyler Drabick picked up the first win of his Auburn career. The graduate transfer gave up one run on one hit, two walks and a hit by pitch. He struck out five batters in his 2.1 innings of work.
Just like the baseball team, the softball team has a busy week ahead of them.
It will start Wednesday with a game at Georgia State, first pitch is scheduled for 5 p.m. CT and can be heard on the Auburn Sports Network.
After that game, Auburn will return home for the inaugural Jane B. Moore Memorial Tournament. The Tigers will open the tournament Friday with a double header against North Carolina AT&T and Toledo. On Saturday they will face Toledo and North Carolina A&T again, first pitch both days is scheduled for 3 p.m.
They will close the tournament Sunday against Chattanooga, the game will be streamed on SEC Network+ and is set to start at 12:30 p.m.
