Alabama football gets back to the field on Mar. 11 for spring practice – Bama Hammer

Alabama Football gets back to work on Mar. 11 as the Crimson Tide’s sping practice begins. The Crimson Tide has been working in the Fourth Quarter program for several weeks, but Mar. 11 will be the Tide’s first actual field activity since losing the National Championship game.
There will be plenty of new faces for the Crimson Tide this spring. Thirteen early enrollees from the 2022 class and three transfer players will join the returning players. The transfers, Jahmyr Gibbs, Eli Ricks and Jermaine Burton are expected to make a quick impact. The trio, like every other Crimson Tide player, will have to earn starting roles.
Also new to the Crimson Tide are assistant coaches, Travaris Robinson (cornerbacks), Coleman Hutzler (outside linebackers and special teams), Eric Wolford (offensive line) and Joe Cox (tight ends). A pair of well-known coaches, Derek Dooley and Todd Grantham have also been added to the Alabama football staff as off-field analysts.
There are at least two recent changes in the player roster. Tight End Caden Clark is no longer listed on the official roster. The Crimson Tide has also added a fourth quarterback, in walk-on Vanderbilt transfer, sophomore Blake Jarrett.
As has been done in recent years, spring practice will have a single session on Mar. 11 and then take a Spring Break respite before getting back to the field on Mar. 21.
Alabama football coach, Nick Saban will provide his first media review session of the spring on Mar. 11, after the first Crimson Tide practice. As has been the case in recent years, all spring practices, except the A-Day game, will be closed to the media and to the general public.
The A-Day game will also be a celebration of two Alabama Crimson Tide greats. John Mitchell and Wilbur Jackson will be honored. Mitchell broke the Alabama football color barrier as the first black player to compete in a game for the Crimson Tide. Wilbur Jackson was the first black player to sign an Alabama football scholarship.
