USC football was going to have a loaded QB room top to bottom this season, as Mo Hasan was to be back from injury. We know how great Caleb Williams is, and we know how talented Miller Moss is. Knowing that we have a QB who has played against SEC games in the past to compete with Moss for that backup spot gave us peace of mind.

Hasan was going to be back from his knee injury, and ready to come in and do a good job with Lincoln Riley now running the show. Instead, Hasan has now ruptured his right Achilles tendon.

It's tough to see someone work so hard to have success as a grad transfer here, and have his first season affected by COVID-19, his second season wiped out by a season-ending ACL tear in spring camp, and now his third season in jeopardy due to this Achilles rupture.
Mo Hasan is a good backup option for USC football, as while he has only played in limited action, he has completed 64.7% of his passes for 9.3 yards an attempt. To put it in perspective, Williams averaged 9.1 yards per attempt while completing 64.5% of his passes. While Hasan isn't comparable to Williams, it is intriguing that his efficiency numbers looked good despite playing for a poor program/offense at Vanderbilt. He also put up almost five yards per carry on the ground.
There's a reason Riley wanted him to stick around. Achilles ruptures are typically considered to be four to six month injuries, but it feels as if most recovery times extend closer or to that six month mark. Therefore, it looks like Hasan could end up being back by the day before USC's first game against Rice.

For now, he'll work to do all he can to recover, and Moss will get a high majority of the second team reps. Moss is intriguing as well, as he was a four-star prospect who was the No. 12 QB in his recruiting class (247Sports). Once Hasan gets back, the depth of SC's QB room will once again be very impressive.
