iverpool vs Leicester – LIVE!
Diogo Jota scored a brace to keep Liverpool’s distant hopes of catching Manchester City at the top of the Premier League alive.
On a night when new signing Luis Diaz particularly impressed and Mohamed Salah made his return from the Africa Cup of Nations, the depth of Liverpool’s attacking line has never looked stronger.
After Virgil van Dijk had seen his header parried around the half an hour mark, Jota pounced and hit an instinctive finish to give the hosts a deserved lead, although Leicester had given a much better account of themselves than they had during their FA Cup loss to Nottingham Forest last weekend.
For large parts, they were in the game, albeit without creating much in the way of clear cut chances.
Still, Jota wrapped up the win with another clever finish, swiveling on a through from Joel Matip after Liverpool had counter-pressed from a corner.

A Jota double the difference.
86:00 – Liverpool win the ball back high up the pitch after their corner was cleared. Diaz finds Matip on the edge of the box, who threads one through to Jota, who swivels and scores.
84:00 – Maddison looked to have run offside on the break but gets to the byline before he’s flagged.
Safe to say he’s not very happy about it.
81:00 – Diaz SO close to scoring on his debut but his shot is blocked on the line.
79:00 – Alexander-Arnold shoots from a central area, the Gerrard area if you will, but it sails over.
76:00 – Salah hits the bar after curling inside onto his left foot from just inside the box.
74:00 – Salah can’t quite the back of the net after breaking through and then goes down injured after a late tackle from Amartey.
Brilliant save and VAR have denied any penalty claims.
73:00 – Salah twists and turns but can’t quite the goal from a tight angle.
