Penn State recruit Drew Shelton visits before the Ball State game on Sept. 11. 2021. Joe Hermitt | jhermitt@pennlive.com
Today’s Penn State football news headlines feature a breakdown of four-star offensive tackle Drew Shelton’s game and a full rundown of the walk-on commitments in the 2022 class.
Tyler Donohue from Lions247 has more on Shelton, who is listed at 6-foot-5 and 275 pounds and as the No. 12 offensive tackle in the 247Sports composite rankings. He is a highly regarded prospect with the frame, athleticism and arm length to see him grow into an impact starter and, one day, an NFL prospect. He has “elite tackle” traits, according to Penn State assistant Taylor Stubblefield.
Sean Fitz from Lions247 examined Penn State’s crop of 12 walk-on players who will supplement the Lions’ star-studded 2022 recruiting class. Among the standout players set to walk on are 6-foot-7 Virginia offensive tackle Jim Fitzgerald, an all-state athlete and wideout in Scranton Prep’s Robert Rossi, and an intriguing interior offensive lineman in Downingtown West’s Samuel Siafa, who Fitz reports just started playing football in 2020.
