Liverpool keep up with top-of-the-table Chelsea. The gap between the two stays at four points after both teams pulled out convincing wins.

Manager Jurgen Klopp post-match provided his analysis of the match. He said: "This league is incredibly intense, and now the most intense part is ahead of us. We have injuries but the boys who played today played really well, and did exactly what we had to do. We know how good Arsenal can be, but we didn't let it happen today."

Gareth Bale has been left out of Real Madrid's squad for their La Liga fixture against Granada on Sunday — extending his club absence to almost three months.

Bale, who was subjected to abuse by Real fans outside the club's training facilities on Friday, has not travelled with Carlo Ancelotti's squad for the league game after sustaining another injury setback while on international duty.

His absence comes after a video emerged on social media showing Real supporters gathering around Bale's car and abusing the forward as objects were hurled at his vehicle.

It's been quite the day for managerial debuts!

In his first game as Aston Villa head coach, Steven Gerrard's side pulled out two late goals to beat Brighton 2-0.

Dean Smith led Norwich for the first time at Carrow Road. His side fought back from 1-0 down to win 2-1 through goals from Teemu Pukki and Grant Hanley.

Eddie Howe — even though he was unable to attend his first game in charge of Newcastle after testing positive for COVID-19 — watched his side draw 3-3 with Brentford.

This is a great read by The Athletic's Adam Hurrey who has detailed how to speak like a new Premier League manager.

And breathe…
What a day of football we have witnessed, and it is not even over yet.
Here is a round-up of the 15.00 kick-off's.

Steven Gerrard got off to a perfect start as Aston Villa manager after two late goals from Ollie Watkins and Tyrone Mings to beat Brighton and Hove Albion 2-0 at Villa Park.

A thriller in Lancashire finished 3-3 between Burnley and Crystal Palace at Turf Moor, with goals from Ben Mee, Chris Wood and Maxwell Cornet for Sean Dyche's men and a Christian Benteke double followed by a Marc Guehi finish.

Newcastle United and Brentford finished the same result at St James' Park in the first game of the Eddie Howe era. Goals from Jamaal Lascelles, Joelinton and Allan Saint-Maximin while the travelling scorers were Ivan Toney, Rico Henry and a Lascelles own goal.

Another new boss, Dean Smith, got his first win as manager of Norwich City.

Goals from Teemu Pukki and Grant Hanley cancelled out a Che Adams opener.

Watford inflicted another defeat on Manchester United, stunningly finishing 4-1 at Vicarage Road after goals from Josh King, Ismailla Sarr, Joao Pedro and Emmanuel Dennis.

Donny Van Beek made it 2-1 just after half-time, but the game turned on a Harry Maguire red card in the second half.

Last but not least, Wolves beat in-form West Ham United 1-0 at Molineux after a goal from Raul Jimenez in the Black Country.

Wow, that's it for me and the 15.00 kick-offs, but be sure to stick around for the 17.30 between Liverpool and Arsenal.

Wow what a matchday after the international break!

Steven Gerrard's opening game in charge at Aston Villa remains goalless against Brighton and Hove Albion.

It is a goal fest at Turf Moor, 3-3 between Burnley and Crystal Palace.

Amazingly that is the score-line also at St James' Park between Newcastle United and Brentford.

Dean Smith is on the brink of picking up his first win in charge of Norwich City, leading 2-1 against Southampton.

Watford are remaining resolute, but did concede just after half time to Donny Van Beek to cut the lead to 2-1.

United captain Harry Maguire was sent off mid-way through the second half for a second bookable offence.

Wolves are leading West Ham United 1-0 at Molineux with a goal from Raul Jimenez.

Who knows what will happen in the final 15 so stick with us.

Real Madrid president Perez has said that The European Super League is the “only way” to control state-owned football clubs.

Speaking at a club general assembly on Saturday, Perez defended the idea of a breakaway league, saying: “It is a project that will at last implement financial controls which are strictly respected and prevent the increasing proliferation of unacceptable situations in which clubs receive indiscriminate financial support from states or other sources.”

Perez also said that clubs funded by states — understood to be a reference to Paris Saint-Germain, Manchester City and now Newcastle United — “seriously compromise the future of football”.

Manchester City's UEFA Champions League match against RB Leipzig in December is to be played behind-closed-doors due to new coronavirus lockdown measures in the Saxony.

A statement was released by Manchester City earlier today, which said:
"Following a rise in COVID-19 rates in Germany, regional authorities will be placing the state of Saxony into partial lockdown.

“This means that RB Leipzig’s UEFA Champions League match against Manchester City on Tuesday 7th December at the Red Bull Arena will now be played behind closed doors, without supporters in attendance.”

The club have reassured supporters who have bought tickets that full refunds will be given.

The last throw of the dice for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer?

Martial and Van de Beek replace Rashford and McTominay
November 20, 2021 at 10:54 AM EST
Wow. One of the most remarkable first 45 minutes in 3pm fixtures in recent memory.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer might even find himself lucky to be only two down at Vicarage Road, as Watford have utterly dominated Manchester United in the opening 45.

A Christian Benteke double has helped Palace come from behind to lead 3-2 at half-time.

The Eddie Howe era at St. James' Park has certainly got off to an entertaining start, as Newcastle and Brentford enter half-time locked at 2-2.

Meanwhile, Dean Smith has seen an improved Norwich side fight back to 1-1 following Che Adams' early goal, however the hosts are yet to register a shot since Teemu Pukki's leveller.

Steven Gerrard has had to settle for a much less entertaining start to his tenure at Villa Park, with Brighton looking the stronger side despite it being 0-0. It's also 0-0 between Wolves and West Ham at Molineux.

It's getting close to ludicrous in the Premier League now.

Marc Guehi puts Crystal Palace back ahead in a five-goal first half at Turf Moor, however the big story is Ismaila Sarr piling more misery on Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, as he makes up for two missed penalties with a strike minutes before half-time.
November 20, 2021 at 10:40 AM EST
Despite Crystal Palace's outstanding form in recent weeks, you would still have raised a few eyebrows if you'd have called a first half brace for Christian Benteke.

Nevertheless, the Belgian reminds everyone just what he can do at his best and pulls the Eagles level.

Speaking of strikers who don't score a lot, Joelinton takes advantage of some hesitant Brentford defending to bring Newcastle back level.

Eddie Howe's (or more accurately Jason Tindall's) first outing at St. James' Park has taken another damning twist, as Rico Henry has nodded the visitors in front.

That first win of the season suddenly looks a long way away again…
